Tyler Lee captured two superlatives in the release of the All-District 11-6A football team for the 2019 season.

Senior Jamal Ligon, who recently signed with the University of the Texas at San Antonio, was named the district’s Utility Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Ligon played tight end, fullback and defensive line. He also lined up at quarterback some this season and completed a pass for a two-point conversion.

Senior Will Landes was chosen as the unanimous pick for Special Teams Most Valuable Player. Landes was a backup quarterback and also handled deep snapping duties for the Red Raiders.

Lee had three first-team selections on the offense — sophomore running back Jamarion Miller, senior fullback Mark Patton and junior offensive lineman Dion Daniels.

The Red Raiders had four first-team selections on defense — junior defensive tackle Chris Harris, senior outside linebacker Devon’t Bolton, senior safety Elliott Davison and senior punter Patton.

Lee had six second-team selections on offense — junior quarterback Trent Adams, sophomore running back Bryson Donnell, senior fullback Noah Springer, senior receiver Sebastian Grady, sophomore offensive lineman Donavan Jordan and junior offensive lineman Kah’lil Montague.

The Red Raiders placed four players on the second-team defense — senior defensive end Seth Leon, junior defensive end Garfield Lawrence, junior inside linebacker Jack Janis and sophomore cornerback Jamarion Miller.

The Red Raiders had five third-team selections on offense — junior receiver Nick Bennett, senior receiver Jamar Arceneaux, senior receiver Jeremiah Turner, senior offensive lineman Willy Figueroa and sophomore offensive lineman Kade Fry.

Lee had 11 players earn third-team nods on defense — junior defensive tackle Jaydien Williams, sophomore defensive tackle Te’Travian Whitmill, senior defensive tackle TJ Hawkins, senior defensive tackle Tariq Woods, junior inside linebacker Josh Olivares, junior inside linebacker Carson Gallagher, senior outside linebacker Jamichael Turman, sophomore safety Cayden Starks, senior cornerback Sebastian Grady, senior cornerback Te’vion Massey and sophomore cornerback Aaron Sears.

Rockwall’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba — the nation’s No. 3 receiver who has signed with Ohio State — was named the district’s Most Valuable Player.

Longview’s Haynes King — the nation’s No. 4 quarterback who has signed with Texas A&M — was selected as the Offensive MVP.

Longview linebacker Tyshawn Taylor was selected as the Defensive MVP.

Rockwall sophomore quarterback Braedyn Locke was the pick for Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and Mesquite sophomore defensive lineman Marlon Thompson-Leath was selected as the Defensive Newcomer of the Year.

Longview had the Coaching Staff of the Year.

Voting was conducted by the district’s coaches.
