The TAPPS 2-4A basketball tournament resumes Friday at Whitehouse’s Wildcat Arena with four more games as eight teams vie for six playoff spots.

After surviving first-round games on Tuesday, the Grace Community boys and girls and All Saints boys play today with a chance to secure a place in the postseason.

The Trojans play at 4:30 p.m. against Dallas Parish Episcopal, which received a bye into today’s round as the No. 3 seed. The Lady Cougars and Cougars both play Carrollton Prince of Peace at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.

The first game of the day pits No. 4 Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill (15-12) against No. 5 Waco Reicher (22-6) at 3 p.m. in the girls bracket.

Today’s winners play Saturday for the third and fourth seeds in the TAPPS 4A playoffs. The losers face off for the fifth and final postseason berth.

All Saints trailed 26-23 at halftime at Parish Episcopal on Feb. 5 before losing 66-49. After shooting 60 percent in an 82-47 win over Bishop Gorman on Tuesday, the sixth-seeded Trojans (22-13) hope they can knock off the Panthers (16-10) and return to the playoffs.

“Parish is really, really good, but we were down (three) at their place at half, so if we’re hitting shots we can play with anyone,” All Saints coach Eddie Francis said.

The No. 6 Lady Cougars, who edged the Lady Panthers 29-20 on Tuesday, play No. 3 Carrollton Prince of Peace at 6 p.m. Grace (11-16) will look to be as stingy on defense as it was Tuesday against a Lady Eagles (19-9) squad that won 67-8 its last time out.

The fifth-seeded Cougars will also play Prince of Peace, seeded fourth, in the night cap today at 7:30 p.m. Grace (15-13) avenged an earlier loss by dispatching Dallas Shelton 57-45 on Tuesday while the Eagles (17-14) got past Waco Reicher 68-50.

On Saturday the top two seeds in each bracket play for the district championship. No. 1 Gorman looks for its fifth straight TAPPS 2-4A girls title against No. 2 Dallas Christian at 6 p.m., followed by No. 1 DC vs. No. 2 TC-CH at 7:30 p.m. in the boys title game.
