Slocum’s Jalyn Fletcher and David Ives swept the superlative honors in Class A on the 2018 Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Softball Teams.

Fletcher was named the Player of the Year, while Ives was the Coach of the Year.

Fletcher had a 0.48 ERA with 44 strikeouts in the playoffs, and she was 16-3 in the pitching circle during the season. Fletcher had a .512 average for the season and a .704 average in the playoffs for the Class A state champions.

Also earning Player of the Year honors were Stratford’s Georgia Clark (6A), Forney’s Savanna DesRochers (5A), Liberty’s Kaci West (4A), Santa Gertrudis Academy’s Saidi Castillo (3A) and Normangee’s Lexi Harris (2A).

Also earning Coach of the Year honors were Humble Atascocita’s Ashley Boyd (6A), Forney’s Pat Eitel (5A), Liberty’s Karen Slack (4A), Santa Gertrudis Academy’s Thomas De Los Santos (3A) and Bells’ Kristina Stephens (2A).

In Class 6A, Longview’s Kennedy Cameron (pitcher), Kerris Cameron (catcher) Makayla Washington (first base), Jordan McClain (shortstop) and Brooke Goynes (outfield) were all honorable mention.

In Class 5A, Hallsville’s Maddie Melton, Jacksonville’s Saylor Williams and Jacksonville’s Abbie Clevinger were honorable mention at pitcher. Jacksonville’s Kylie McCown (catcher), Jacksonville’s Breezey Robinson (second base), Hallsville’s Lorena Ramirez (shortstop), Hallsville’s Jaydin Ainsworth (outfield), Jacksonville’s Jordan Whitaker (outfield) and Marshall’s Haylie Rich (outfield) were also honorable mention selections.

In Class 4A, Carthage’s Carson Robertson was a first-team selection at first base, and Rains’ Presley McAree was a first-team pick in the outfield. Rains’ Olivia Lusk was a second-team pitcher. Spring Hill’s Sydney Johnson was a second-team third baseman. Rusk’s Preslye Cox earned second-team utility honors. Rains’ Leo Terry was a third-team shortstop, and Bullard’s Ashlyn Seaton was a third-team utility pick.

Carlisle’s Tori Esters was a second-team pitcher, and Alto’s Abby Bernard was a second-team catcher. Martin’s Mill’s Jessie Camacho was a third-team first baseman. Alto’s Shay Griffin was a third-team outfielder, and Woden’s Amber Allen was a third-team utility pick. Honorable mention selections were Martin’s Mill’s Abbie Orric and Woden’s Reese Taylor at pitcher; Grapeland’s Kierra Decluette at third base; and Alto’s Abbie Teutsch in the outfield.

Slocum placed three players on the first team in Class A — Fletcher at pitcher, first baseman Cumby and outfielder Laney Lasiter.
