Robert E. Lee girls fall to Rockwall

ROCKWALL – Robert E. Lee received 22 points from Ja’Kayla Bowie, but it wasn’t enough in a 53-42 loss Tuesday at Rockwall.
The Lady Raiders (15-15, 6-6 in District 11-6A) were in striking distance of their hosts at halftime, trailing 27-20, before Rockwall used a 14-0 run to start the third quarter.
A 21-point deficit proved too much for the Lady Raiders to overcome, despite Bowie’s best efforts, who fouled out in the fourth quarter after REL cut it to eight points.
“We started making some shots and got some pressure on them to cut it to eight, but then Ja’Kayla fouled out and we kind of lost the momentum,” Lee coach Ross Barber said. “We are still in this thing. We need to come back Friday and get a win at home.”
The Lady Raiders host North Mesquite at 6:30 p.m. at the REL Varsity Gymnasium.
