Norton carries All Saints to victory

Senior quarterback John Norton led the offense and the defense for All Saints in Friday night’s 25-6 win over Fort Worth Temple Christian’s Eagles at Mewbourne Field.
Norton began the scoring on a 9-yard run with 7:38 remaining in the first quarter, and tacked on another 9-yard TD run in the third quarter.
On defense, Norton accounted for two of the Trojans’ four interceptions of FW Temple’s Connor Moore, who was under heavy pressure from the Trojan defensive line.
With 1:46 remaining in the first period, Merritte Greene put the Trojans ahead 13-0 on a 10-yard run.
The Eagles from FW Temple were able to make a pass connection for some success when Moore hit Brannon Low on a pump-and-go route for 59 yards and a score with only 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Prior to that completion, Moore’s previous two passing attempts were intercepted.
The next attempt following the Eagle touchdown was also intercepted.
All Saints intercepted four out of the first six Eagle pass attempts.
All Saints (2-0) will host Burkeville next Friday night at 7 p.m.
