CRANDALL – Quarterback Garrett Moseley accounted for four touchdowns and No. 9 Van opened District 8-4A Division I play with a 34-14 win over Crandall on Friday night.

Moseley threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Gus Brewer, then the QB scored from the 1-yard line to stake the Vandals (5-0, 1-0) to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Moseley finished the game 10 of 20 for 157 yards and two TDs, including a 7-yard score to Ethan Robinson. Moseley also rushed for 116 yards and two TDs on 25 carries.

Crandall (2-3, 0-1), which had five turnovers (3 fumbles, 2 interceptions) for the game, fell behind 21-0 in the second quarter when Moseley scored on a 2-yard run.

Van was led defensively by Ridge Preston, who scored on an 83-yard fumble return in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring. Preston also made two interceptions.
