WHITEHOUSE — Patrick Mahomes pitched three solid innings and homered to help lead Whitehouse past John Tyler, 17-0, in five innings in District 14-4A action Wednesday at the WHS baseball field.

Mahomes, a sophomore, struck out seven of the 11 batters he faced and posted a solo homer as the Wildcats built a 7-0 lead in the second.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday at Tyler’s Mike Carter Field, but was postponed due to inclement weather and moved to Whitehouse.

Whitehouse improved to 11-4 on the season and 3-1 in league play. The Wildcats travel to Pine Tree for a 6:30 p.m. contest Friday.

John Tyler, meanwhile, fell to records of 4-9-1 and 0-4. The Lions play host to Marshall at 4 p.m. Friday.

All told, Whitehouse posted 12 hits and finished with five of the extra-bases variety.

Mahomes went 2 for 2 with the homer (solo line drive in the second), an RBI single and two walks.

Alex Rostis provided the other homer, a two-run bomb to right to help the Wildcats put the 10-run mercy rule into effect with a 13-0 advantage entering the fourth.

Jake Parker went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, Aaron Clemons finished 1 for 2 with three RBIs and two walks and Jared Raabe went 2 for 2 with a triple and a walk.

All told, the Wildcats were walked nine times.

Christopher Garcia was responsible for JT’s only hit, a single in the second.

In the first, Mahomes and Rostis walked with one out before Clemons cleared the bases with his double to make the score 2-0.

Raabe and Cheatham followed the hit up with back-to-back RBI triples, before Derek Clemons scored on an error and Parker hit an RBI single.

The Wildcats piled on six more runs in the third — thanks in part to receiving five free bases — and four more in the fourth.
