Lindale punches ticket to playoffs

LINDALE – The Lindale Eagles are headed to the playoffs.
After three straight close losses, the Eagles scored a 41-25 win over Smith County rival Whitehouse on “Senior Night” Friday at Eagle Stadium.
With John Tyler defeating Nacogdoches (28-16) and Ennis defeating Corsicana on a last-second field goal (23-21) and the Eagles winning, it created a three-way tie for fourth. Lindale won the points tiebreaker with Corsicana and Nacogdoches as the squads were all 3-4 in district.
Ryan Taylor led the Eagles (5-5) with 134 yards and a TD on 31 carries. He scored on a 1-yard dash. Williams rushed for 73 yards on 13 carries and threw a TD pass.
Cameron Sir Louis caught TD passes of 14 yards (from Williams) and 9 yards (from Montana Meador).
Lindale quarterback Meador was 8 of 13 passing for 145 yards and two TD passes. He rushed for 9 yards and a TD on four carries.
Lindale receiver Kendrick Price had five catches for 91 yards.
Tanner Roach led the Wildcats (2-8, 0-7) by hitting 13 of 24 for 228 yards and two TDs.
Shemar Smith had an 85-yard kickoff return for a TD and he also had a 68-yard TD catch. He had seven receptions for 102 yards.
DeMontre Else hauled in a 60-yard TD pass from Roach.
Bryce Deupree caught a 46-yard TD pass from Meador.
Whitehouse kicker Eddie Godina booted field goals of 22 and 40 yards, while Lindale’s Jordan Lawless kicked field goals of 35 and 48 yards.
