Tyler Lee had seven girls — Ga’Brella Billington, Shayla Mosley, Mah’Layzga Johnson, Arivell Guzman, Robyn Liles, Ashley Walker and Ta’Niya Ferguson — qualify for the state powerlifting meet in Class 6A this past Friday in Waco.
Billington, a senior, qualified for state for the second straight year in the 259-pound-plus class. She holds Region 3 records in the squat, bench, deadlift and total lift in her weight class. While participating in another sport, she suffered a knee injury, which kept her out of the state meet, Lee girls powerlifting coach Brandon Mikolajczyk said. Billington placed sixth at the state meet in 2017.
Mosley, a junior, lifted in the 259-pound-plus class in place of Billington. She set personal records on all three lifts and placed 10th at the state meet with a total of 785 pounds (310 squat, 175 bench, 300 deadlift).

She was chosen for a $1,000 scholarship by the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association for her work on the platform and in the classroom, marking the second straight year a Lee lifter has received the honor.
