Lee’s Trevor Doke, Garrett Newberry earn Academic All-State

Robert E. Lee’s Trevor Doke and Garrett Newberry are members of the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Academic All-State Team, the organization announced.

Doke and Newberry, coached by James Boxley, were on the Class 6A squad. They are two of a number of East Texans who made the all-state.



Team members in Class 5A include Lufkin’s Gerardo Guzman, Adam Holden and Davis Powell; and Nacogdoches’ Cole McClellan, Harrison Patton and Clayton Ray.

Canton’s Tyler Massey, Simon Miller and Cameron Sullivan made the Class 4A team.

Others in Class 4A include Carthage’s Nathan Bailey; and Lufkin Hudson’s Colton Castilaw and Reed Smith.

All-staters in 3A are Edgewood’s Jordan Davison, Grand Saline’s Philip LaPrade, Luke Melton and Judsen Truett; Harmony’s Cameron Helpenstill and Drew McNeel; New Diana’s Micah Champion; and Winnsboro’s Marshall Rogers.

The Class 2A squad includes Grapeland’s Josh Ackley and Blake Howard; Kerens’ Brady Blue, Tate Engel and Ino Garcia; Linden-Kildare’s Dalton Alford, Jacob Owen and Trent Wert; Maud’s Hunter Thomas and Jacob Townsend; and Oakwood’s Garret Bean.
