King’s Academy breaks records at state track meet

SAN ANTONIO — Philip Taylor and Bethany Cox of King’s Academy broke meet records at the Texas Christian Athletic League state track meet April 20-21.

Taylor won two gold medals, setting the new meet record in the triple jump at 42 feet and winning the long jump at 19-08.



Cox won the 3,200-meter run in a record-breaking time of 13 minutes, 58 seconds.

Overall the Royal Knights, coached by Dodie Wilson and Kelly Wishart, placed third in the boys meet and fourth in the girls.

Jonathan Dickson won three silver medals for King’s Academy, taking second in the long jump, triple jump and 100. David Eichelberger added a second-place finish in the pole vault.

Most Popular

The King’s Academy girls and boys 4×400-meter relay teams both took second as well. The girls team consisted of McKenna Simpson, Katie Baggs, Grace Young and Keelie Compton while the boys who ran were Andrew Cox, Philip Taylor, Avery Comer, Ely Gilliam.
