John Tyler tops La Grange 7-4 in baseball

SAN MARCOS – James Chevis went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and a two-run triple to help John Tyler beat La Grange 7-4 on Friday at the San Marcos Invitational.

Earlier in the day, errors cost the Lions in a 10-0 loss to Smithson Valley as JT moved to 2-1 in the tournament. John Tyler (3-5) plays Lehman at 11:15 a.m. Saturday.



Michael Givens and Josh Parker both had two hits and an RBI for the Lions against La Grange, who led 7-0 heading into the final inning.

Abraham Medina picked six scoreless innings before running into trouble in the seventh.

In the loss to Smithson Valley, James Allen and Parker had JT’s only hits. Allen had two steals to give him three for the day.
