Jake Smith passes Bishop Gorman to 51-19 victory over Brook Hill

Jake Smith threw for 458 yards and five touchdowns as Bishop Gorman cruised to a 51-19 win over The Brook Hill School on Friday night at McCallum Stadium.
After all was said and done, the Crusaders had a few tricks, and several treats in the one-sided post-Halloween, TAPPS Division II, District 2, affair.
Two plays in to the game, the first trick was Chris Jones making an interception that turned into Crusader points quickly.
It took only two plays before Smith found Chase Crumpton in the end zone for an 8-yard scoring strike.
Guard signal-caller Khalan Griffin was almost unstoppable on the first Guard scoring drive as he ran for 52 of his 112 yards in the game. The final 16 yards were around the right end for six points.
Smith then went to work, finding Crumpton for a treat as he scored on a 38-yarder.
A 21-yard field goal from Kike Betancourth gave Bishop Gorman a 24-6 lead.
The lone score of the third quarter was another big play as Isaiah Milton outran the Guard defensive backs for a 49-yard scoring run.
A Kirk Jean-Baptiste 1-yard touchdown run added to the score, and Jake Shaffer finished out the Brook Hill scoring with a PAT kick and a 37-19 affair.
Crusader Tyler Hobbs caught a 7-yard pass from Smith, and Betancourth made a 43-yard interception return for the final tally and the 51-19 final score.
Jones had nine catches for 136 yards, while Crumpton made six grabs for another 117 yards and three scores. Jabari Watkins had 73 yards in nine carries to lead the Crusaders ball carriers.
Gorman had 580 yards of total offense, while Brook Hill had 248 yards, with only 27 yards (2-of-19, two interceptions). through the air.
Griffin had 112 yards rushing and one score, while Jean-Baptiste finished up with 101 yards on 19 carries and the two touchdowns.
Brook Hill (6-3, 2-2) will host Cedar Hill Trinity Christian next week, while Bishop Gorman (5-4, 1-3) will take on McKinney Christian.
