HS Hoops Roundup: Bearettes open season with 57-17 win

BROWNSBORO — The Brownsboro Bearettes used a balanced scoring effort to down Wills Point 57-17 Thursday at Bear Gym.

Brownsboro was paced by eight points apiece from Sydney Hightower and Victoria Walker. Six other Brownsboro players scored five points or more. They were Shelbie Bagley (6), M.J. Alexander (6), Madison Montgomery (6), Lexie Houston (6), Tamaria Manning (5) and Briana Warren (5).



Brownsboro will next face Bullard at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bear Gym.

In the subvarsity games, Brownsboro JV won 28-9 and Brownsboro freshmen won 44-10.

MINEOLA 62, HENDERSON 27

HENDERSON — Raven Johnson had 12 points, Sister Green had 11 points and Jada Harper had 10 points to lead Mineola past Henderson, 62-27, in a girls basketball matchup Thursday.

Johnson also finished with 11 steals and five rebounds for Mineola (1-0), which outscored Henderson 21-3 in the second quarter and 17-4 in the fourth to pull away.

Harper and Green contributed eight and five steals, respectively, to help the team with finish 33 steals.

CHAPEL HILL 68, HARMONY 44

CHAPEL HILL — The Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs started the season with an emphatic 24-point win over Harmony on Thursday.

Chapel Hill (1-0) was paced by 24 points from Shay Ross and 17 from Gabby Brooks.

Jacy Lloyd scored 16 for Harmony (0-1) in the loss.
