Grayson propels Robert E. Lee to win at Lobo Relays

LONGVIEW – Tyrec Grayson won three gold medals to propel the Robert E. Lee Red Raiders to first place in the Lobo Relays on Friday at Lobo Stadium.
Lee garnered 139 points to place ahead of Pine Tree (101) and Lufkin (97) in the 14-team field.
Grayson won two individual events (100-meter dash, long jump) and helped his teammates capture the 4×200 meter relay in a time of 1 minute, 29.43 seconds. Joining Grayson on the relay were Garrett Gowin, Daylon Harris and Ralyn Ellis. Kilgore was second at 1:31.05.
Grayson placed first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.77. Shuncee Thomas of Shreveport (Louisiana) Airline and John Sorey of Longview tied for second at 11.21.
In the long jump, Grayson leaped 20 feet, 4 ¼ inches for the win.
Makyle Sanders of Lee was tops in the triple jump at 43-8 and Branson Ellis won the gold in the pole vault (15-10).
Keashun Davis tied for second with Airline’s Nate Fullilove in the high jump at 5-8. Lufkin’s Andrew Phillips won at 6-0. Lee’s Tevin Shankle was fifth at 5-6.
Gowin placed third in the 200 (23.09) and Isaiah Davidson was third in the 800 (2:03.43).
Lee also fared well in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs. Haftu Knight was runner-up in both events – 4:37.97 (1,600) and 9:51.02 (3,200). Ian Estrada was fourth in the 1,600 (4:41.88) and third in the 3,200 (10:03.75). Matt Anderson placed fourth in the 3,200 (10:10.06).
REL was third in the 4×100 relay at 43.39. Kilgore won in 42.71. Lee’s team members were Harris, Gowin, Grayson and Ralyn Ellis. Lee was fourth in the 4×400 (3:35.73). Ralyn Ellis, Sanders, Matt Taylor and Davis were on the relay.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Zachariah Black was fifth (19.22) followed by Marquis Gray (19.64). Benjamin Dene was fourth in the 300 hurdles (43.86).
Lee’s Jerry Vellia won the silver in the discus at 126-1. He was fifth in the shot (43-10).
