Big Sandy routs Overton, 58-16

BIG SANDY — The Big Sandy Wildcats continued to roll through District 9-1A Division I play with a 58-16 win Friday over the Overton Mustangs.

The Wildcats amassed well over 350 yards of total offense, and their defense was stingy, allowing just one touchdown in each half.



Big Sandy wideout Taurus Keppard had a big night for the Wildcats (5-2, 2-0), catching four passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns. He was also in on two interceptions and five tackles from his safety position.

Senior quarterback James Ellis had the hot hand all night, completing 9 of 13 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed eight times for 72  times.

After taking a 35-8 lead at halftime, Big Sandy reeled off 23 more points in the last two quarters with touchdowns from Josh Jackson, Travis Willoughby and Matt Walsh. Jackson finished the night with 126 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns.
