Daniel Mondragón had a hat trick to spark John Tyler to a 4-1 win over Nacogdoches on Friday in a District 16-5A soccer match at John Tyler Field.

Johnathan Sosa added a goal for the Lions.

Assists were from Leo Arteaga (2), Sosa (1) and Victor Leon (1).

It was the fourth straight win for the Lions as they improve to 11-7 overall and 4-1 in district.

JT visits Hallsville on Tuesday.

LONGVIEW 2, TYLER LEE 1, OT

LONGVIEW — Longview scored with 18 seconds left in the second overtime period to score a 2-1 win over Tyler Lee on Friday in a District 11-6A boys soccer match.

The teams were tied 0-0 in regulation. With five minutes left in the first overtime period, Lobo senior Victor Cruz sent home a loose ball for a 1-0 Longview lead. Then with six minutes left in the second overtime period, Tyler Lee struck back with an outstanding freekick from Junior Avelar. The game was tied at 1-1 until Longview capitalized on a free kick themselves with 18 seconds remaining.

REL plays host to Mesquite Horn at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
