All-East Texas Softball Team: Rains’ Chanlee Oakes named Player of the Year; Troup’s Lindsay Davis selected as top newcomer

Chanlee Oakes has added to her collection of softball honors.
Last year the Emory Rains pitching standout was named All-East Texas Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.
As a sophomore, Oakes garnered the top prize — All-East Texas Player of the Year.
Oakes was instrumental in leading the Rains LadyCats to the Class 3A state softball championship.
She was voted the Class 3A Player of the Year as well as the Most Valuable Player of the Class 3A state softball tournament.
Oakes was 32-1 in the circle with 162 strikeouts with an ERA of 1.17. She can also hit with a .464 average with 48 RBIs.
Her coach, Scott Delozier, was voted Coach of the Year after leading the LadyCats to a 34-1 record and the state title.
Troup freshman Lindsay Davis was named Newcomer of the Year. She had a .363 batting average and was 14-12 in the circle with 218 strikouts in 135.2 innings of work. Davis had a 1.44 ERA.

NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR: Lindsay Davis, Troup, freshman
About Davis: .363 average, 20 RBIs, 20 runs, 5 doubles, 2 triples at the plate; 14-12, 1.44 ERA, 218 strikeouts in 135.2 innings pitched. Davis was the Co-Pitcher of the Year in District 16-3A.
COACH OF THE YEAR: Scott Delozier, Emory Rains
About Delozier: Delozier led Rains to a 34-1 record and the Class 3A state title.
FIRST TEAM
Pitcher: Saylor Williams, Jacksonville, junior: Williams was 15-4 with a 2.08 ERA and 157 strikeouts.
Pitcher: Delana Meyer, Grand Saline, junior: Meyer was 21-3 with 127 strikeouts, 19 walks and a 0.45 ERA. At the plate, Meyer hit .346. She is also ranked No. 2 in her class academically with a GPA of 102.
Pitcher: Tatum Goff, Rusk, senior: Goff had an ERA of 0.55 with 157 strikeouts. She also hit .389 at the plate. Goff has signed with the University of Kansas.
Catcher: Catrin Hoffman, Rains, junior: Hoffman hit .501 with seven home runs, eight triples, 14 doubles, 39 RBis and 23 runs. Hoffman is committed to Nicholls State.
Infield: Jordyn Whitaker, Jacksonville, junior: Whitaker hit .444 with 14 home runs, 10 doubles, 49 runs and 33 RBIs to earn District 16-5A MVP honors.
Infield: Makala Moore, Whitehouse, junior: Moore hit .525 with three home runs and 34 RBIs. She had a .925 fielding percentage defensively.
Infield: Jasmine Mott, Rains, junior: Mott hit .504 with a home run, 13 doubles, six triples, 44 RBIs, 39 runs scored and 22 stolen bases for the state champs. Mott is committed to Texas A&M-Commerce.
Infield: Gabby Nichols, Bullard, sophomore: Nichols hit .457 with three home runs, 35 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. The shortstop had 51 putouts and was the District 16-4A Offensive Player of the Year.
Outfield: Jolee Dixon, Bullard, junior: Dixon hit .412 with six home runs, 32 RBIs and 19 stolen bases.
Outfield: Presley McAree, Rains, junior: McAree hit .619 with seven home runs, 10 triples, six doubles, 42 RBis, 62 runs, 49 stolen bases and a 1.000 fielding percentage for the state champs. McAree is committed to Texas A&M-Commerce.
Outfield: Pearl Perry, Hughes Springs, senior: Perry hit .441 with 12 home runs, 15 doubles, six triples, 52 RBIs and 45 runs. Perry has signed with Northeast Texas.
Utility: Makana Morton, West Rusk, senior: Morton hit .607 with seven home runs, 52 RBis, 52 runs, 19 doubles and 24 stolen bases. In the pitching circle, Morton was 4-2 with a 1.52 ERA. She pitched and played shortstop. Morton has signed with Southern Arkansas.
Utility: Maddie Wright, Whitehouse, junior: Wright hit .544 with 18 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. She had 59 putouts in 60 attempts defensively. In the pitching circle, Wright had a 3.31 ERA. Wright pitched and played in the infield but is actually being recruited as an outfielder. Head coach Chris Clemons called Wright the “best player I have ever coached.”
SECOND TEAM
Pitcher: Kennedy Cameron, Longview, junior: Cameron was 16-9 with a 2.86 ERA with 233 strikeouts and 61 walks in 136.2 innings. At the plate, she hit .366 with three home runs, three doubles, two triples, 26 RBIs and 25 runs scored.
Pitcher: Ariel Matula, Bullard, sophomore: Matula was 22-6 with a 2.62 ERA and 144 strikeouts in 163 innings pitched.
Pitcher: Riley Price, Edgewood, sophomore: Price had a 1.60 ERA with 264 strikeouts and 24 walks in 146.1 innings. At the plate, Price hit .471. She had two no-hitters in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
Catcher: Brook Bolin, Grand Saline, senior: Bolin hit .439 with three home runs and 30 RBIs. She threw out 12 baserunners stealing. Bolin has signed with Trinity Valley.
Infield: Delaynie Nash, Harmony, sophomore: Nash hit .402 with six home runs, 11 doubles and 38 RBIs.
Infield: Brook Floyd, West Rusk, senior: Floyd hit .411 with four home runs, 13 doubles, 37 RBIs and 42 runs. Floyd has signed with Allen Community College.
Infield: Jodi DeHart, Lindale, senior: The Tyler Junior College signee hit .458 for the Lady Eagles.
Infield: Elissa Elliott, Rains, senior: Elliott hit .515 with three home runs, 42 RBIs and 41 runs, and she had a 1.000 fielding percentage. Elliott signed with Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Outfield: Kirsten Waller, Gilmer, freshman: Waller hit .446 with two home runs, 18 RBIs and 18 stolen bases with no errors.
Outfield: Aspyn Grossman, Bullard, senior: The Galveston College signee hit .436 with 42 runs scored and 34 stolen bases.
Outfield: Johnae Robinson, Pollok Central, junior: Robinson hit .615 with 41 runs, 35 stolen bases with a 1.000 fielding percentage. Robinson is committed to East Texas Baptist.
Utility: Abbie Orrick, Martin’s Mill, junior: Orrick hit .707 with six home runs, 33 RBIs, nine doubles and 24 runs in 13 games after leading Martin’s Mill to a basketball state championship. In the pitching circle, Orrick had a 4.54 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 74 innings. Wright plays pitcher, catcher and shortstop. She’s drawing recruiting interest from Texas Tech, Texas, Minnesota and Stanford for softball.
Utility: Hannah Knox, Lindale, senior: The pitcher and third baseman hit .484. Knox signed with Butler Community College.
