TJC Softball: Apache Ladies sweep Midland

MIDLAND — The No. 4 Apache Ladies swept Midland College in a softball doubleheader on Friday.

Tyler Junior College (5-1) scored wins of 16-4 and 14-5 over MC at the Lady Chaparrals Softball Field.



TJC travels to Odessa College for a pair of games on Saturday. The first game is set to begin at noon. On Sunday, the Apache Ladies play Western Texas in Snyder. Midland (3-5) plays host to Western Nebraska on Saturday.

TJC’s first home games are schedule for Friday, Feb. 21 against Iowa Western at The Brook Hill School in Bullard.

GAME 1

Maleah Olvera had a 4-for-4 game with four RBIs and four runs scored to pace the TJC attack in the five-inning 16-4 win. She had a homer and a double with two singles.

Others belting home runs for TJC were Bailey Krolczyk and Kindall Hernandez, who was 3 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Tanjala Smith and Rylee Burke added doubles.

Also contributing for the Apache Ladies were Krolczyk (2 hits), Alandria Kim (2), Brecklyn Dennis (1) and Destinee Dixon (1).

Others with RBIs were Krolczyk (2), Kim (2), Dixon (2), Dennis (1) and Burke (1). Also scoring runs were Kim (4), Smith (3) and Krolczyk (3). 

Dakota Stotyn (4.0 innings, 5 hits, 3 runs, 1 earned run, 3 strikeouts, 1 walk) and Grason Long (1 inning, 1 hit, 1 run, 1 earned run, 1 strikeout, 1 walk) combined in the circle.

Tajanaé Davis, Hannah Ice and Marlee Moala hit doubles for the Lady Chaps, while Ice, Jaylene Partida and Moala had RBIs.

GAME 2

Jazmine Dodd, Dennis and Kim all hit home runs as the Apache Ladies won the second game, 14-5, in six innings. Dennis’ blast was a grand slam.

Kim had three hits and four RBIs, while Dennis had two hits and five RBIs.

Olvera hit two doubles with one each from Smith, Kim and Hernandez. Others with two hits were Dodd, Dennis, Smith and Hernandez. Adding singles were Krolczyk and Jodi De Hart.

Adding RBIs were Olvera (2), Dodd (1), Smith (1) and Hernandez (1). Scoring runs were Dodd (3), Dennis (2), Smith (2), Olvera (2), Kim (2), Krolczyk (1), Allie White (1) and Sloane Johnson (1).

In the circle were Emilie Hoelscher (4 innings, 5 hits, 5 runs, 4 earned, 2 strikeouts, 3 walks) and Hannah Frank (2 innings, 4 hits, 0 runs, 2 strikeouts, 1 walk).

Davis hit two homers for the Lady Chaps with Jacqueline Nunez hitting a homer and a double.
