CLARKSVILLE, Ark. — Philip Humber wasn’t the only pitcher to a throw a no-hitter on Saturday.

Katelyn Thomason, UT Tyler’s senior pitcher, tossed a no-hitter in leading the No. 8 Patriots to a 9-0 win over the Ozarks Lady Eagles in an American Southwest Conference baseball game.

Only an error prevented Thomason from being perfect just like Humber, the Chicago White Sox pitcher who tossed a perfect game against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

In the first game, the Lady Eagles shocked the Patriots, 8-1. It was only the second ever loss to Ozarks by UT Tyler. The teams have been playing since 2006.

The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader today, beginning at noon.

On Monday, the Patriots play host to East Texas Baptist at UT Tyler Ballpark. The first game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

Thomason (11-3) was in con-trol throughout. The only Lady Eagle to reach base in six innings was via an error.

Thomason struck out eight and did not walk a batter. She faced only 19 batters.

Ashley Endsley led the Patriots with two home runs and three RBIs. She had three total hits.

Joey Cronin and Heather Abshire added two doubles apiece. Abshire had two RBIs.

Lauren Robenalt and Taylor Petrick added two hits each, while Thomason contributed a single.

Other RBIs were by Thom-ason, Robenalt, Brittany Hay and Jessica Ross.

In the first game, pitcher Abshire suffered only her third loss of the season. She is 16-3.

The Patriot bats were held in check with four singles — one each by Endsley, Abshire, Taylor Sells and Hay.

Hay and got the only RBI.

Amber Rollins (10-14) got the win in the circle for the Lady Eagles, while Reagan Littlefield belted a homer.
