No. 1 TJC soccer wins 4-3

DALLAS – Yazeed Matthews scored in the 80th minute to ensure the Tyler Junior College comeback as the No. 1-ranked Apaches scored a 4-3 win over the Richland College Thunderducks on Friday in an NJCAA soccer match.

TJC (11-0) feel behind 3-1 in the second quarter before rallying for the win.



The Apaches took a 1-0 lead in the 19 th minute when Shaun Stocker scored on a free kick. In the 40th minute, the Thunderducks’ Santiago Agudelo tied the game with a score inside the box.

After a 1-1 tie at halftime, Richland (8-2) went up 2-1 when Augustine Igboanugo scored in the 47th minute. In the 52nd minute, Agudelo put the Thunderducks up 3-1.

The Apaches scored a minute later as Rooby Dalusma picked up a loose ball in the box and scored to bring his team within 3-2.

In the 58th minute, Matthews headed in a ball on the cornerkick from Dalusma for 3-3 tie.

Later, Matthews got the game-winner.

William Diaz was in goal for TJC.

The Apaches have back-to-back home games on Oct. 7 (7 p.m. vs. Laredo) and 8 (6:30 p.m. vs. Coastal Bend).
