Apaches take second win

Jaqwuan McCauley came off the bench to score 18 of his 20 points in the first half to spark Tyler Junior College to an 84-71 victory over Southwestern Christian College on Saturday at Wagstaff Gymnasium.

The Apaches improved to 2-0 to start the year with two wins in the Jimmy Butler Basketball Classic. SWC of Terrell fell to 1-1.



The Classic is named after the former Apache who is now an NBA All-Star for the Chicago Bulls.

TJ Thomas had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for TJC. Darryl Stewart (14) and Ronnie Stacy (10) also reached double-digit scoring for the Apaches.

Tyler heads east next week to play in the Don’s TV Classic hosted by Kilgore College. The Apaches play On Point Prep on Friday and Provision Prep on Saturday.
