Clyde fourth at NAIA golf preview

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Tyler’s Cal Clyde, playing for Texas Wesleyan University, carded rounds of 71 and 70 on Monday during the first day of the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship Fall Preview at the LPGA International Course.

Clyde has a two-round total of 141 and is fourth, just four strokes behind leader J.D. Cobb of Southeastern. Tied for second are Kyle Martin (Southeastern) and Vince Drahmin (Marian), as both golfers shot 70-69—139.



Texas Wesleyan is in sixth place after a 586 (294-292). Defending NAIA national champion Oklahoma City leads with a 580 (291-289). Southeastern is one stroke behind the Stars with a 581 (290-291), and in a tie for third place is Webber International with a 584 (291-293) and Oklahoma Baptist (296-288).

Northwood used a solid first round for a 585 total (290-295) good for fifth place.

The third and final round of the preview event is Tuesday.
