BULLARD — The Brook Hill Guard were out to make a statement in the opening game of the third annual DeHaven Fall Football Classic with a 34-0 win over the Frankston Indians on Thursday night at Herrington Stadium.

Guard quarterback Will Weathers had a great game with one rushing score and throwing for two more as Brook Hill took a 20-0 halftime lead.

Weathers ended the game with 169 yards on 17 carries and finalized the scoring with a six-yard jaunt in the final period.

A stout Brook Hill defense was led by linemen Mason Dickey and Bailey Franklin upfront and linebackers Malik Alley, Blake Maddox and Ryan Young.

The Guard rode the legs of quarterback Will Weathers to score on the first drive of the season.

Forced into a fourth down scenario, Weathers took the ball around the right end for 40 yards and a first down, keeping the Guard rolling. Three plays later, Weathers walked in from 2 yards out.

Michael Greening made a 10-yard scoring catch to make it 13-0 in the second quarter.

Maddox recovered an Indian fumble at the Frankston 25 and it took one play for Brook Hill to score.

Seth Brasher took a Weathers pass in stride for a 25-yard score and a 20-0 lead.

Brook Hill rolled up 232 combined yards in the opening half and Frankston struggled with only 34.

The Indians used two signal-callers, with Tye Griffin getting the start and Ozzie Buckner coming on midway through the second half.

Two more scores for the Guard came late in the game.

Weathers topped off his night with his second rushing score, coming from 6 yards out.

Later a Guard punter Jacob Dumesnil had his kick blocked but caught the ball and ran 48 yards to pay-dirt for the game’s final score.

Brook Hill rolled up 440 yards of total offense while holding the Indians to a combined 130 yards, with 88 on the ground and 38 through the air.
