Baseball: Whitehouse scores big win, Brook Hill pitchers combine on one-hitter

WHITEHOUSE — Three Wildcat pitchers — Luke Caussey, Ethan Stone and Camden Miller — combined on a two-hitter as No. 2 Whitehouse defeated Tyler 27-0 on Tuesday in a District 15-5A baseball game.
The Wildcats improve to 22-3 overall and 9-0 in district. The Lions fall to 3-15-2 and 1-8.
Caussey got the win on the mound, going three innings and allowing two hits while striking out six and walking one. He was followed by Stone (1 inning, 0 runs, 2 strikeouts, 0 walks) and Miller (1 inning, 0 hits, 2 strikeouts, 0 walks).
The Wildcats scored 18 runs in the first inning.
Collin McLemore led Whitehouse with three hits (double, 2 singles) and five RBIs.
Jermond McCoy, Winn Harriss, Caussey, Stone and Matt Garcia had two hits each.
Michael Dudolski, Harriss, McCoy and Stone added doubles. Contributing singles were Tye Davis, Garrett Hayes and Chris Woodley.
Garcia had three RBIs with two each from McCoy, Keegan McCord, Hayes, Dudolski, Caussey and Carson Willingham. Knocking in a run each were Davis, Michael Morton, Braden Bean, Woodley and Aiden Anderson.
Scoring runs were McCoy (3), Davis (3), Morton (3), Garcia (3), McLemore (3), Hayes (2), Dudolski (2), Harriss (2), Bean (2), Willingham (2), Stone (1) and Anderson (1).
Dante Martinez and Avery Coleman had the hits for the Lions.
Tyler is scheduled to host Pine Tree at 7 p.m. Friday. The Wildcats visit Mount Pleasant at 7 p.m. Friday.
Brook Hill 16, Dallas Covenant 0
BULLARD — Cade Chesley went 4-for-4 and pitchers Ashton Alexander and Blake Whitten combined on a one-hitter as the Brook Hill Guard scored a 16-0 victory over Dallas Covenant on Tuesday in a TAPPS Division III District 2 baseball game.
The Guard improves to 17-4 on the season and 7-1 in district. The Knights fall to 2-8 in district.
Alexander tossed four innings, allowing one hit while striking out three and not issuing a walk. Whitten threw one inning and did not allow a hit or a walk while striking out two.
Chesley had two doubles, a triple and a single and he drove in four runs.
Andrew Sims had two hits for the Guard and Dylan Malone added a double. Contributing singles were Lex Rich, Ben Braatz and Whitten.
Other RBIs were from Malone (2), David Sims (1), Samuel Williams (1), Ben Crutsinger (1), Braatz (1) and Whitten (1).
Malone and Rich added stolen bases.
Garrett Habashy got the only hit for the Knights.
Lindale takes two
NEW CHAPEL HILL — Luke Waggoner hurled a one-hitter, lifting the Lindale Eagles to a 14-0 win over Chapel Hill on Tuesday in a District 16-4A baseball game at Jerry Mumphrey Field.
Waggoner tossed all five innings, striking out eight and walking three.
At the plate, Waggoner had a triple and two RBIs.
Kaden Fleming (2 singles), Carson Plunkett (double, single), Miles Keith (2 doubles) and Jacob Curbow (double, single) all had two hits. Ty McCoy added a single.
Other RBIs were from Plunkett (2), Keith (2), Fleming (1) and Curbow (1).
Scoring runs were Fleming (3), Ryan Betts (2), Jake Powell (2), Keith (2), Caleb Hart (1), Plunkett (1), Curbow (1), McCoy (1) and Waggoner (1).
Keith had three stolen bases with one each by Betts, Fleming and Curbow.
Ethan Mendez had the lone hit for the Bulldogs.
On Friday in Lindale, Betts threw a three-hit shutout to lead the Eagles to a 2-0 win over Brownsboro in a District 16-4A baseball game.
Betts struck out six and walked three.
Plunkett had two hits and drove in both runs for the Eagles. Keith and Curbow added singles.
Powell and Fleming scored the runs for Lindale.
Lindale (14-6-1, 4-1)) plays host to Chapel Hill (4-14, 1-4) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Van 4, Athens 0
VAN — Colton Grier and Landon Justice combined to lead Van to a 4-0 win over Athens on Tuesday in a District 16-4A baseball game.
Grier got the win on the mound, going 4.2 innings while allowing six hits and striking out six and walking two. Justice got the save by throwing the final 2.1 innings, allowing one hit and striking out two and walking one.
Calem Redding led the Vandals with two hits with one each by Grady Baetz, Grier and Andrew Flodder.
RBIs were Asher Hawkins, Landon Smith, Wyatt Dale and Redding. Scoring runs were Baetz, Smith, Easton Hinch and Ross Hendricks.
Gabriel Bachert and Smith had stolen bases.
Eli Perkins had two hits for the Hornets, a double and a single. Joseph Garcia and Elijah Carnes had two hits apiece with Payton Woods adding a single.
Woods pitched four innings for the Hornets, allowing three hits and four runs with a strikeout and four walks. Nathan Garcia pitched two innings, giving up two hits but not allowing a run while walking one.
Van (21-5-1, 5-0) visits Athens (2-15-1, 1-4) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Canton 17, Quinlan Ford 3
QUINLAN — Canton scored five runs in the first inning and five more in the final inning in scoring a 17-3 win over Quinlan Ford on Tuesday in a District 14-4A baseball contest.
Ace Reese had three hits, including a triple and two doubles, and Layne Etheridge had two hits, including a home run and a double, to pace the Eagles. Brayden Norrell (double, single) and Logan Faglie (double, single) added two hits each.
Nathan Parker had a triple for Canton and Reed Vannorsdel hit a double. Kaden Smith added a single.
Etheridge led with four RBIs. He was followed by Smith (2), Vannorsdel (2), Reese (1), Jaxon Rhyne (1), Norrell (1) and Faglie (1).
Scoring runs were Reese (4), Smith (3), Landon Faglie (3), Vannorsdel (2), Logan Faglie (2), Parker (1), Etheridge (1) and Rhyne (1).
Rhyne had two stolen bases with one each by Reese and Vannorsdel.
Etheridge got the win on the hill, pitching four innings, allowing four hits and one run with seven strikeouts and one walk.
Smith finished out the game with two innings (2 hits, 2 runs, 2 strikeouts, 1 walk).
Rhett Usleman had a triple for the Panthers with doubles from Carson Lane and Chase McAlpin. Corbin Maynor had two singles with Bryce Whitehead adding one. Usleman and Whitehead had an RBI apiece. Usleman scored two runs with McAlpin crossing the plate once.
The Eagles (20-1, 7-0) are scheduled to host Rains at 7 p.m. Friday. Quinlan Ford (9-12, 0-7) is scheduled to visit Mabank at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
Texas High 3, Longview 2
TEXARKANA — The Longview Lobos fell behind 3-0, rallied to cut the deficit to 3-2 late but came up short by that total on Tuesday in District 15-5A action.
Kieffer Doxey worked six innings on the hill and took the pitching loss for the Lobos. He struck out four, walked two and gave up two earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Andrew Tutt went 3 for 4 for the Lobos. Jordan Allen and Doxey both had two hits, including a double apiece, and Jose Arellano and Taylor Tatum both singled and drove in runs.
The Lobos will host Hallsville on Friday.
Pine Tree 4, Marshall 3
LONGVIEW — At Pine Tree’s Field of Dreams, the host Pirates scored twice in the bottom of the first and added lone runs in the sixth and seventh to walk off with a 4-3 win over Marshall.
Marshall scored twice in the top of the seventh to tie things at 3-3, but the Pirates got a one-out walk by Cale Skinner, a single from Dean McMillen and a two-out walk from Collin Estes to load the bases before Max Gidden walked to force in Skinner with the game-winner.
Estes finished with a triple and a double, and Tyson Bush added a double and an RBI. McMillen also collected two hits for the Pirates.
Gidden went the distance on the mound, striking out nine and walking two while allowing no earned runs.
Logan Presley drove in a run for Marshall in the loss. Caden Noblit struck out eight and walked two in 6.1 innings. Presley walked two in 1/3 of an inning.
Big Sandy 13, Hawkins 6
BIG SANDY — Kalab Remedies homered, singled twice and drove in four runs, and the Big Sandy Wildcats used an eight-run fifth inning to take control of things on the way to a 13-6 win over Hawkins.
Jake Johnson doubled once and singled three times, driving in one run for the Wildcats, who trailed 4-2 before the big fifth inning outburst. Logan Ollive double, singled and drove in two runs, and Tyson Tapley, Kayden Smith, Caden Bixler, Whitson Cox and Zachary Duhart all drove in runs.
Smith struck out five and walked eight in 3.2 innings. Braydon Brown, Tapley and Johnson all logged time on the hill, with Johnson fanning three in one inning, Tapley striking out one in an inning and Brown recording two punch outs in 1.1 innings.
Braden Adams homered in the loss for Hawkins. Julian Frazier added a double and single. Braden Givens had two hits and two RBI, and Asa Stone drove in one run. Frazier struck out five and walked four in 2.2 innings. Givens, Adams and Stone all pitched for the Hawks.
Overton 16, Union Grove 6
OVERTON — The Overton Mustangs scored 11 times in the bottom of the fourth to overcome a 6-3 deficit on the way to a 16-6 win over the Union Grove Lions.
Isaiah Hawkins doubled and drove in a run for Overton. Mason Rowe had two hits and two RBI, Brody Brown two hits and an RBI and Sawyer Rogers a single and two RBI.
Bryce Still, Rylan Holleman and Joey Zalman also drove in runs.
Holleman worked six innings on the hill for the pitching win. He struck out two and walked two.
Jacob Griffin homered and drove in three runs in the loss for Union Grove. Carter Cooper had two hits, and Kayden Day doubled and drove in a run.
