East Texas will be well-represented at the UIL Boys State Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday in the Austin area.

The Troup Tigers are making a remarkable eighth consecutive trip to the U.S. Open of Texas prep golf. The Tigers are in the Class 3A event.

Joining coach Greg Hamilton’s Tigers at state include the teams of Lindale in Class 5A, Canton and Texarkana Pleasant Grove in Class 4A, New Diana and Pollok Central with Troup in 3A, Grapeland and Douglass in Class 2A and Sulphur Bluff in Class 1A.

Medalists competing include the Bullard duo of Hayes Esposito and Jaxson Bellar and Carthage’s Miller Harris in Class 4A, White Oak’s Justin Benson and Nacogdoches Central Heights’ Jack Summers in Class 3A, Yantis’ Kaiden Bush and Kennard’s Garrett Hoy in Class 1A.

Along with Troup’s team streak, senior Jamey Scruggs is making his fourth straight appearance in the state tournament.

Other members of the Troup squad are Peyton Hugghins, Jake Smelser, Brayden Maris and Corbin Whitsell.

Joining the Tigers will be New Diana (Landon Oney, Jackson Sampson, James Harden, Ethan Thornton, William Leslie) and Pollok Central (Riley Dewitz, Morgan Hubbard, Mason Kelly, Gage Gilmore, Caydin Parker).

The 3A Tournament will be played at Austin’s Grey Rock Golf Course (6,708 yards, par 72).

Lindale’s team includes Evan White, Dylan Sims, Ethan Puckett, Ryan Esparza and Montana Meador.

The Class 5A Tournament is slated to be played at Wolfdancer Golf Club in Bastrop (6,948 yards, par 72).

The Class 4A Tournament is set for Apple Rock Golf Course at Horseshoe Bay (6,546, par 72) in Marble Falls.

Members of the Canton squad, which won the Region II Tournament, are Patrick Malouf, Logan Willeford, Matthew Allen, Tristan Nelson and Clayton Stern. The Eagles are coached by Paige Peace.

The Pleasant Grove team consists of Braxton Watkins, Ray Norton, Jathan White, Ben LeGrand and Jackson Giles.

The 2A tourney will be played at Austin’s Roy Kizer Golf Course (6,412, par 71).

Grapeland team members include Rick Frauenberger, Case Boyd, Brayden Cheatham, Riley Chipman and Josh Ackley.

The Douglass squad includes Trevor Roquemore, Avery Arnold, Connor Gallier, Jared Holland and Logan Lee.

The historic Lions Municipal Golf Course (6,001 yards, par 71) in Austin is site of the Class 1A event.

Members of the Sulphur Bluff team includes Kaleb Brown, Trayton South, Aaron Swanson, Turner South and Brennon Seymore.

The Class 6A Tournament is scheduled for Legacy Hills Golf Club (6,989 yards, par 72) in Georgetown.
