Apaches sweep LeTourneau JV

LONGVIEW – Tyler Junior College swept a baseball doubleheader against the LeTourneau JV on Monday.

TJC won 8-3 and 6-0.



In the first game, Matt Mikusek was 4 for 4 with two RBIs to spark the Apaches’ offense. Hunter Wells was 2 for 2 with two RBIs. One of Wells’ hits was a double.

Adding hits for TJC were Jared Pauley, Colton Whitehouse (double), Alex Masotto and Nathan Methvin.

Mason Mallard and Methvin each had RBIs.

Sam Sitton started and pitched three innings of the seven-inning game to get the win. The former Lindale hurler struck out three. Following Sitton on the mound were Hunter Haley (1.2 innings, 2Ks), Josh Raiborn (1.1 innings, 2 Ks) and Kyle Porter (1 ining).

In Game 2, the Apaches used six pitchers in tossing a 4-hit shutout.

AbeRee Heibert started and was followed by Adan Ross, James Kuykendall (strikeout), Austin Cerosek (2 Ks), Travis Smith (1K) and Masotto (1K). All hurled one inning with the exception of Smith who pitched two.

Hunter Wells led the Apaches’ bats with a 3 for 4 performance, including a double and two RBIs. Mallard was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a triple.

Adding hits were Jarrod Wells, Tanner Arst, James Phillips, Beau Buesing, Justin Roach and Payton Stokes. Stokes also had an RBI.

TJC (15-7) plays host to Arkansas Baptist in a weekend series at Mike Carter Field. There is a single game on Friday that is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. There is a doubleheader slated for Saturday with the first game set to begin at noon.
