Apaches fall to North Lake

Tyler Junior College was hoping to start the basketball season 2-0, but turnovers and misfires on 3-point shots were too much to overcome.
Jarvis Craft hit for 20 points and Robert Waters added 19 as the North Lake College Blazers scored an 83-73 upset in the Robert Pack Basketball Classic on Saturday at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
DeAndre Harris led the Apaches with 19 points, while Sharife Sargeant added 13 points.
“Counting the win, too much forced, fast three-point shots,” said TJC coach Mike Marquis, whose club opened the season on Friday with a 90-60 win over Brookhaven. “We’re young, we’re not ready to play with any tempo; I was disappointed in that. … Early in year, we showed some promise. We appreciate the support, we had a couple of good crowds.”
Also on Saturday, the TJC Apache Ladies scored a 61-51 win over Howard College in Odessa.
Both teams will host the Sleep Inn Classic next week.
The Apache Ladies play Thursday (6 p.m. vs. Odessa), Friday (4 p.m. vs. Weatherford) and Saturday (4 p.m. Collin County.
The Apaches meet Weatherford (6 p.m. Friday) and Stephen F. Austin Club Team (7 p.m. Saturday).
