PLANO —All Saints’ seventh-inning rally fell just short and the Trojans’ hopes of reaching state ended with a 7-5 loss in Game 3 of a best-of-three TAPPS 4A regional playoff series against Fort Worth Christian on Friday afternoon at John Paul II High School.
All Saints (25-8) forced the third game by winning Game 2 6-3 Friday morning.
In the decisive Game 3, the Cardinals (25-11) scored three in the sixth and two in the seventh to take a 7-1 lead into the final half inning.
The Trojans battled back with four runs highlighted by a two-out, two-run double by Charlie Short, but couldn’t complete the rally.
Short also drove in All Saints’ first run, bringing in Michael Caruso to make it 2-1.
> Parker Towns led the way for the Trojans in Game 2. The senior threw a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk. He added a two-run double and three RBIs to his cause.
Charlie Short, Aston Francis and Jack Hamm all had two-hit games in the Trojans victory.
