William V. “Bud” Pickett
TYLER — Private graveside services for William V. “Bud” Pickett, 95 of Tyler, scheduled for Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Jackson’s Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Robert Stovall officiating.
Mr. Pickett died April 8 after a long illness. He was born on March 19, 1925 in Tyler to William O. Pickett and Mae Hearon Pickett. After graduating from Tyler High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from February 1943 to November 1945 on the USS Suwannee in the South, Central and Western Pacific Ocean as a Radarman 2nd class, surviving 13 battles. A 30 plus year career in the Insurance business, Mr. Pickett was employed as an investigator and special agent. He also enjoyed working on his farm and was a life-long Presbyterian.
Survivors include two daughters, Gayla Nash and son-in-law, Gary of Mineola, Twyla Selvidge and son-in-law, Danny; one son, Gary Pickett; niece, Peggy Thomas, all of Tyler; five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Mr. Pickett was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Pollard Pickett; grandson, Jeffrey Selvidge; sister, Doris Stripling; and daughter-in-law, Linda Pickett.
