Johnnie Platt Wanger

TYLER — Memorial Service for Johnnie Wanger, 76, will be held on Saturday June 1, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Bullard Methodist Church. Johnnie passed away April 25, 2024. Johnnie is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughter Michaux and her husband Donnie Gerken, and three grandsons, Alex, Jackson, & Barrett Gerken of Dover, TN.

Johnnie was not only a Petroleum Geologist but also a teacher. He taught geology while in the Air Force, undergraduates in LeTourneau University, and graduate students attending SFA several semesters throughout the years. He also, unselfishly, gave of his time to serve on different Boards of Directors within the geology community. His wit, attention to detail, and positive attitudes will be greatly missed.
