DALLAS — Dr. Martha Ann Anderson age 79 of Dallas, Texas died at home on April 19, 2024. Martha was born in East Texas on February 10, 1945 to Hugh and Ada Anderson of Arp, Texas. Martha graduated Valedictorian from Arp High School before attending Tyler Junior College; and the University of Texas in Austin. Martha then entered the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Martha completed her Anesthesia residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital. She was board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Martha was appointed Assistant Professor at Emory University School Of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia from 1974-1981; and was appointed Senior Associate beginning in 1981. Martha then continued her career as Associate Professor of Anesthesiology (clinical) Health Science Center at the University of Texas in Dallas from 1983 until her retirement.
Martha was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists; the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists; and the Dallas County Society of Anesthesiologists. Martha was also a published author for medical publications.
Although medicine was always Martha’s first priority, she had a passion for ballroom dancing and was an accomplished PRO/AM Champion competitor nationwide and in Canada. She competed in Latin American and Ballroom categories. Martha danced nearly every day for almost 40 years and shared this passion with her beloved “adopted family” Gocha Chertkoev, Shorena Gachechiladze and their son Levani and daughter in law Shannon Chertkoev; as well as Valentina Gachechiladze.
Martha will also be very missed by family including her cousin Garland Warren of New Milford, CT; several other family members, and many dear friends.
Martha was predeceased in death by her parents; and sister Norma Jean Anderson.
A graveside service will be held at Mason Cemetery, Arp, Texas on April 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
