TYLER — Visitation for James Donald “Don” Williams, 91, of Tyler, Texas, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, 5-7 p.m. at Jackson’s Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home.
Don passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at his home in Tyler.
Don was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Tyler to Frank James Williams and Verdie Bell Olson Williams. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, until 1955.
He married the love of his life, Donna Evans Williams, Oct. 15, 1954. Together they started Don Williams Electric contracting company, while raising two children. He and his wife built multiple homes in Tyler, Chapel Hill and Arp, Texas. They tackled a few designs thought to be impossible, turning them into masterpieces. They enjoyed traveling in their retirement years.
Don also enjoyed raising cattle, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Don and Donna delighted in hosting the Williams Christmas Eve get-together for many years. That family tradition is greatly missed.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frank James Williams and Verdie Bell Olson Williams; sister, Cleone Williams Murphy; brother, Glen Williams; and a grandson, Justin Alexander King.
Don is survived by his son, David Dewayne Williams; daughter, DeeAnn and Charles H. Seawright; grandchildren, Megan and Mathew Scott, Ethan and Margaret Williams, and Katherine Brooke Williams; and great-grandsons, Aiden Cristopher Williams and Theodore Augustus “Teddy” Scott; two nieces and seven nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers Ms Linda White, Van Dews, Nia Forbin, Annecia Haywood, Gypsy Hudson, Elizabeth Ford, Home-Aid Caregivers of Tyler and the medical staff and attendants of Choice Hospice for the love, care and attention they gave to my father. It took at team and all of you will forever be champions in my heart.
