CARTHAGE — Onterio Thompson ravaged the Timpson defense for 195 rushing yards and four touchdowns as No. 1 ranked Tenaha cruised to a 59-0 Class 2A Division II Region III quarterfinal victory on Thursday at Bulldog Stadium.
The Tigers ran their overall record to 14-0 and advanced to the semifinals to play the winner of Friday’s Burton and Falls City contest.
The Bears closed out their season at 11-3.
Tenaha scored on its first six possessions of the first half and held a commanding lead going in at the break. The Tigers showed a dose of compassion taking a knee on their final possession of the half.
Jay Lloyd raced 91 yards with the second half kickoff to stake the Tigers to a 49-0 lead. It was at that point officials started running the clock.
Trai Gardner found the pay zone from 44 yards out following a Timpson punt with 7:06 left in the third. Christian Castillo, who was eight for eight on extra points, rounded out the scoring with a 32-yard field goal in the waning moments of a swift-moving fourth quarter.
