A lengthy argument ended with a woman reportedly stabbing her boyfriend during a confrontation in a Palestine parking lot.

The Palestine Police Department issued a press release this morning stating the incident occured Thursday night about 9:15 at 1010 Sugar Lane.

“Upon arrival, officers contacted Joshua Webster, 21, who reported that his girlfriend, also 21, had stabbed him in the abdominal area with a weapon. Officers learned that Webster and his girlfriend had been involved in disturbances over the course of the last two days, and the female returned reportedly with intent to damage his vehicle,” the release stated.

During a confrontation in the parking lot, Webster reported that he thought that the girlfriend had punched him in the abdominal area before realizing that she had actually stabbed him.

The suspect fled the scene, possibly to a residence in the county.

A Palestine detective responded to the scene, and followed up on the investigation. A warrant was obtained for the female’s arrest, which was served this morning when she unexpectedly came to the police department to speak with officers regarding the offense.

The female was transported and booked at the Anderson County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault deadly weapon involving a dating relationship, or member of family/household.

The offense is categorized as first-degree felony, which is punishable by 5 to 99 years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine. Bond was set at $10,000.

The name of the suspect will be released after arraignment.
