The man charged in the stabbing death of a Longview News-Journal carrier last week confessed to his girlfriend that he had killed a woman, according to an arrest warrant filed in Gregg County’s 307th District Court.
The six-page complaint, filed Friday, said Rodrick Deshun Arkeith Elliott, 20, of DeSoto, arrived Thursday at his girlfriend’s house in Gladewater — after she had hung up on him earlier — and said he killed a woman.
Police went to the girlfriend’s house because a resident of the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, where Elliott had been staying, overheard a man in a nearby bunk ask someone he was calling whether that person would still love him if he killed someone, the warrant said. Longview police went to her house after a mission staffer said Elliott’s girlfriend lives in Gladewater, and Gladewater police provided her street address.
