UPDATE: Authorities release identities in fatal Family Dollar shooting

Arthur Lee Taylor III 35, of Longview, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon in connection with to this shooting.

UPDATE: 11:55 P.M. Saturday

LONGVIEW (KYTX) – Longview police confirm one of the men shot died from his injuries Saturday.

The victim was identified as Michael Louis Boyd, 42, of Longview.

The other man allegedly involved in the shootout was released from the hospital Saturday and booked into the Gregg County Jail on a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Police have not released his identity.

Longview police say the investigation is on-going and they plan to release further information as it becomes available.

LONGVIEW (KYTX) – According to Longview Police, officers were in the area of the Family Dollar Store in the 1200 Block of South High Street at around 12:30 p.m. when they heard several gunshots.

Officers located two males in the parking lot that witnesses stated were shooting at each other.

Both men were injured and transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center.

The Saturday, Dec. 26 afternoon shooting occurred at the intersection of Garfield Drive and High Street.
