Families recently got excited about school choice at Tyler Classical Academy.

Parents and students celebrated school choice week from Jan. 21 through 27 at the school’s new campus on East Grande Boulevard.

“We want parents to have the right choice,” Campus Director Paula Biddle said.

The capstone of the week was a celebration on Tuesday. More than 100 parents and students gathered after school for bounce houses, performances about character and leadership and updates on school projects.

The school’s student council presented an $800 donation to the Salvation Army of Tyler.

Biddle said the staff strives to teach leadership and strength of character, to grow well-rounded students.

“We want to offer the right atmosphere, culture and richness of curriculum,” Biddle said.

Tyler Classical Academy is an open enrollment, public charter school under the umbrella of Responsive Ed, which operates more than 70 schools in Texas and Arkansas.

School Choice Week is a nationwide celebration promoting support for public charter schools.
