Jury selection was underway Monday in a Smith County court for a 42-year-old Tyler man who will face trial for a charge of criminally negligent homicide, a state jail felony, in the death of a woman killed in a May 14, 2016, car wreck on Grande Boulevard.
The trial is slated to begin this week in the 241st District Court.
Police said James Arthur Fulton was traveling westbound on Grande about 9:40 p.m. when his Dodge Ram pickup crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a Ford Focus head on.
Haile Dawn Beasley, 21, of Tyler was killed in the crash.
Fulton was indicted on the charge in December 2016. He was booked into the Smith County Jail and released after posting a $15,000 bond.
