Toddler killed in Upshur County crash on Saturday

A toddler was killed in a car wreck that occurred at 9:45 p.m. Saturday on Farm-to-Market Road 49, approximately six miles west of the city of Gilmer, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Skylar Rabourn, 2, of Big Sandy, was pronounced dead by judge Wyone Manes.
The wreck, involving a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, occurred on FM 49 east of FM 1795 in Upshur County. The car was traveling west on FM 49 at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road into the tree line, an investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety found.
The driver has been identified as Randell Phillips. Phillips was taken to East Texas Medical Center at Tyler in serious condition.
