Tickets are available for the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum’s Hangar Dance.
The World War II-era style dance will be held in hangar one in The Jet Center of Tyler, 209 Airport Drive, Sept. 27.
“Come out and have fun, dance the night away to the ’40s and ’50s — the oldies but goodies,” Carolyn Verver, with the HAMM organization, said.
Doors will open at 6 p.m., with a buffet-style dinner catered by Sadler’s of Jacksonville. Serving begins at 6:30 p.m. The dance floor will be open until 10 p.m. The event is BYOB, and soda setups will be on sale for $1 each.
The event will feature a local DJ playing classic Big Band hits and live ’50s music by an East Texas female group, Shake Rattle and Roll.
Guests are invited to dress in era attire or casually.
The Ninety-Nines Inc., an international organization of women pilots, also will be in attendance, Ms. Verver said. Amelia Airheart was the first president of the organization. The women are having their regional convention and will be in East Texas, Ms. Verver said.
This is the third hangar dance the HAMM board has put on, with the last one in 2011.
Tickets are $40 with dinner and $20 without. Ms. Verver said the price reduction is part of an effort to attract a younger crowd to come and have a good time.
“A TJC group came to the last hangar dance,” Ms. Verver said. “They had a marvelous time, so I would really like to see a lot of the college-aged people come out.”
Tickets can be purchased by mail at HAMM, 150 Airport Drive, Box 2-7 or by calling the museum at 903-526-1945
