Thieves bust out wall, pry open ATM at Bingo Hall in Lufkin

LUFKIN (KYTX) – Lufkin Police investigating a burglary at the Flamingo Bingo after thieves broke through a wall, and pried open an ATM stealing an undetermined amount of cash.

On October 29, 2015, at approximately 10:35 pm, Lufkin Officers McMullen, and L Jowell were dispatched to 3001 N Medford, Lufkin, TX, Angelina County in reference to an alarm at the Flamingo Bingo.


Officer McMullen arrived on scene and checked the doors that he could gain access to. The doors were secure but one had damage to the glass portion. At the time Officer McMullen was unable to make a determination of whether or not the door had been damaged setting the alarm off.

One of the key holders, Crystal Hagens, arrived on scene and stated that the door had not been broken.

Hagens let Officer McMullen in and Hagens noticed a large hole in the back wall of the business and the ATM damaged. Officer McMullen and L Jowell cleared the building.

Officer McMullen took photographs of the damage. Chelsea Ragnas, the manager of

Flamingo Bingo, arrived on scene and showed officers the playback of the camera footage.

The video shows two males in masks cutting the wall and breaking a hole in the back wall.

The camera footage shows one of the subjects moving a surveillance camera so in would not see the pair. Once inside one of the subjects crawls to avoid the motion sensor to the ATM and using a large pries pole, opens the ATM and removes the cash box after much struggle.

The suspect inside attempts to flee through the front door smashing the glass pane but is unsuccessful and leaves out the back.
