Texas Rose Festival, Yamboree and Halloween events highlight weekend in East Texas

- Over 150 cars were registered for annual Trunk or Treat sponsored by the East Texas Crisis Center and UT Tyler.

Texas Rose Festival Parade, Saturday, 9 a.m., 609 Fair Park Dr., Tyler. Enjoy Tyler’s biggest event of the year with the 91st Rose Parade. The parade will start at Glenwood Boulevard and Front Street, concluding at Christus stadium. Seating along the parade route is free or $10 reserved seats are available at the stadium. Later that day from 1 to 3 p.m., enjoy the Queen’s Tea where court members will be mingling with community members in their elaborate costumes at the Tyler Rose Garden, 420 Rose Park Dr. Information: https://texasrosefestival.org
Cirque Italia, Friday 7:30-9:30 p.m.; Saturday 1:30-3:30 p.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m., 7:30-9:30 p.m.; Sunday 1:30-3:30 p.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m., 4601 S Broadway Ave. in Tyler (Broadway Square Mall). Experience a water circus that combines acrobatics and aerial performances with the magic of water. Performances will take place under the big tent at the JCPenney parking lot. Brick Street Block Party, Sunday, 5 to 7 p.m., 110 N College Ave. in Tyler (Plaza Tower parking lot). Join First Baptist Church and Marvin Methodist Church for the inaugural Brick Street Block Party at the Plaza Tower parking lot. Trunk or Treat, Sunday, 5 to 7 p.m., 3900 University Blvd. in Tyler (UT Tyler). Join the East Texas Crisis Center and UT Tyler for the annual Trunk or Treat, a walk-through experience where volunteers will distribute candy from the trunks of decorated cars, along with games and activities for children. The event will take place in parking lots 6 and 7 on the UT Tyler campus, located near the College of Nursing and Health Sciences building. Pink October 5K, Sunday, 6 a.m., 450 Shiloh Rd. in Tyler (Rose Rudman Park). Participants can join this race to help raise funds for breast cancer research while enjoying a fun experience. Information: bit.ly/pinkoctober5k.
East Texas Yamboree Queen’s Parade, Saturday, 11 a.m., 110 Buffalo St. in downtown Gilmer (courthouse square). The parade is one of the highlights of the annual Yamboree, a family event that is part of the storied multi-day celebration in Upshur County. Haunted Library, Friday and Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m., 222 W. Cotton St. in Longview (Longview Public Library). The Haunted Library will feature a dark lair filled with monsters, spirits, and eerie surprises. Admission is $5 per person, with proceeds supporting the Friends of the Longview Public Library and future programming. Cash and cards are accepted, and patrons must present a ticket for entry. Historic Haunts & Legends of Longview Tour, Saturday, 6 to 8 p.m., 214 N. Fredonia St. in Longview (Gregg County Historical Museum). Attendees will hear chilling tales, including the opera house ghost, the young girl ghost on the second floor of the Gregg County Historical Museum, and a local home’s haunted mirror. 2nd Annual 5K Color Run, Saturday, 7 a.m., 121 Summers Dr. in Longview (Paul G. Boorman Trail — Loop Entrance). Join the Oil Patch for the 2nd Annual Color Fun Run/Walk, benefiting The Truman Center in Gladewater. First place overall for both men and women categories will receive $100.
