The Northeast Texas Public Health District (NET Health) has flu vaccines available at its main offices, 815 N. Broadway.
The seasonal flu vaccination will be provided on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.
Parents of children who qualify for the Texas Vaccines for Children Program will be charged a fee of $10. Medicaid and CHIP insurance plans are accepted and the vaccination is at no cost to the recipient. The cost for the flu vaccination for adults is $25 per person, and Medicare Part B is accepted.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the simplest and safest protection against influenza is vaccination. According to NET Health, people who are at an increased risk for health complications from the flu should receive the flu vaccine as early as possible, particularly before flu season arrives in northeast Texas.
NET Health possesses the seasonal flu vaccine that protects against four different strains of the flu virus, which includes protection against the H1N1 flu strain. NET Health also has the High Dose Influenza Vaccine, which is free for persons on Medicare, aged 65 years and older. Persons not on Medicare can receive this vaccine for $40.
The hours of operation for the NET Health Immunizations Clinic are Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and from 1 p.m. tol 4 p.m. On Wednesdays, the clinic remains open until 6 p.m.
