A day of military recognition and family activities is scheduled for next weekend in Bullard, just in time for Veterans Day.

The Red, White & Blue Festival event will take place Nov. 9 downtown.

Festival committee member Robyn Capps said a parade kicks off at 10 a.m., followed by a veterans ceremony about 11 a.m., and live entertainment, which begins about 2:30 p.m.

A car show will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a carnival will be going on throughout the day, likely until 9 p.m. or 10 p.m., she said.

Additionally, an estimated 60 plus vendors will be on hand for the occasion, and there will be various other activities, such as pony rides, a rock wall, an obstacle course, and a drumline competition.

But overall, Ms. Capps said, the emphasis is on honoring veterans.

She said State Rep. Matt Schaefer, R-Tyler, is the keynote speaker for the veterans ceremony, and a U.S. Air Force retired general is slated to attend the festival, participate in the parade, and be recognized at the veterans ceremony.

“We want to recognize all the veterans past and present …” Ms. Capps said. “It’s a family fun-filled day for everyone to come out and enjoy.”

There is no admission cost.
