The public is invited to attend an open house hosted by the Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization in an effort to amend the Metropolitan Transportation Plan.

The amendment involves updating the transportation projects identified for construction over the next 25 years to plan for revenue expected to be generated from the oil and gas taxes deposited into the State Highway Fund. This transfer was approved on Nov. 4, 2014, on the ballot measure known as Proposition 1.

The open house will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tyler Development Center’s large conference room at 423 W. Ferguson St., Tyler.

This open house kicks off a 30-day public comment period from Oct. 13 to Nov. 12. The revisions will be considered for adoption at the MPO Policy Committee meeting scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 17.

Staff from the Tyler Area MPO will be on hand to answer questions and provide information regarding the proposed amendments. The ultimate goal of the open house is to gather public comments on the proposed amendments.
