A reported plane crash near the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport turned out to be a false lead, according to city officials. 

Serena Butcher, city Tyler spokeswoman, said a call was received that a plane might have crashed Friday and the fire department responded. 

However, she said after a long and thorough search, no wreckage was located.
