A $10,000 grant to the Literacy Council of Tyler will support the nonprofit’s Family Literacy Program.
The grant is one of five recently awarded by the Pi Beta Phi Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that work in literacy.
The $50,000 came from donations to the foundation’s Literacy Fund, according to a news release about it.
Local Pi Beta Phi members recently visited the Family Learning Center at Tyler ISD’s Douglas Elementary School to promote literacy.
