Pedestrian in serious condition after being hit by car on Loop 323 in Tyler

A pedestrian is hospitalized and in serious condition after being struck by a car at a busy Tyler intersection on Wednesday night, police said.
Just before 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Tyler police officers responded to South Broadway and Loop 434 on a vehicle/pedestrian crash.
A pedestrian was walking south across Loop 323 from First Christian Church to the French Quarter Shopping Center parking lot when they were struck by a vehicle traveling east on the Loop, according to Tyler Police PIO Andy Erbaugh.
The vehicle stopped after striking the pedestrian, who had not been in a crosswalk at the time, Erbaugh said.
The pedestrian was alert and awake and was transported by EMS to UT Health in serious condition.
Tyler police detectives, crime scene and accident Investigators were on scene and two lanes were closed for some time Wednesday night following the accident.
This remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
