Palestine Meals On Wheels sponsoring West Virginia trip

Meals On Wheels.’ of Palestine. will sponsor a trip to West Virginia called “New River Train Ride with the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s” on Sept. 21 to 26.
Travel will be by deluxe motor coach provided by Chuck’s Travel of Tyler. There will be one en route overnight stop going and coming in Jackson, Tennessee, with a three-night stay in Huntington, West Virginia.
Included are three dinners, one lunch, at the Greenbrier Resort, and five breakfasts.
Events will include the train ride called “The Grand Canyon of the East,” along the New River Gorge with spectacular scenery and a narrator. Travelers will see waterfalls and white water, hawks’ nests and remote river towns.
The trip also will include a visit to the Heritage Farm Museum and Village for a look back in time to see how things used to be in rural America, a visit to the Blenko Glass Factory, (one of the last-hand blown glass factories in America,) visits to the coal mine area where history is told of the Matewan Massacre, which occurred in 1920; a visit to some of the Hatfield and McCoy feud sites, a tour with lunch at the Greenbrier Resort, then a tour of President Eisenhower’s Cold War Bunker.
